New portable UV racket disinfects surfaces with just a swish

Researchers have developed a portable paddle with ultraviolet (UV) light that they say can sanitise almost any surface - from groceries, e-commerce parcels, keys, banknotes and vehicles - simply by waving the device over them, which may help.
The 80-centimetre-long paddle consists of an oval-shaped paddle that has a UVC (ultraviolet light with wavelengths between 200-280 nanometres) tube embedded in one side of the paddle, the researchers said.
The other side of the device is covered with a metal plate to protect the person holding it from exposure to harmful UVC rays, they said.
